Shake while take-off and pulling heavy loads

This is killing me! Its a 01 7.3. Ive replaced all 3 rear ujoints , carrier bearing, balanced tires, and just rebuilt my rear diff (new bearings). When i first take off ive got a shake-shimmy for the first couple seconds. It is worse when towing...the heavier the load or the quicker I take off the worse it is. Ive done, checked everything I know and now i need help!

The truck does have a 6" lift with the carrier drop. The problem didnt start immediately after the lift but after a few months. Do i need to shim the carrier lower and mess around with that?
I notice it more around corners also.

Have you added any friction modifier to the rear lube? First thought was carrier shimming, but the cornering thing seams like limited slip clutches.

Yes all fresh when I rebuilt the rear.

So is it kind of a trial and error thing with the carrier?

My uneducated guess is the torque convertor. It is unable to (getting worn out)handle the loads on it and is shaking the s$%^ out of you until you get rolling. Seen it before. And it only happens with the torque convertor on take off.

Stop looking for a problem. I almost GUARANTEE what you are experiencing is normal. It is caused by your lift. It is friction in the drive shaft at the joints because it is at an extreme angle. Ford released a TSB saying that this is normal for F350s because of the rear blocks.

yup try adding or removing some washers to affect the angle, its def a trial/error process.

also pull the slip joint apart and regrease it to.. its good insurance to make sure your not getting extra friction from a dry slip joint.

Start at about an inch drop with the carrier bearing and go from there. I had to drop mine about 2" on my 2000.

2" on top of the drop supplied from the lift company?

My pro comp lift on my 2000 didn't come with a dropdown bracket, had to buy aftermarket. Mine needed 2" of drop total.

Well shimming the carrier did not work. I tried .25" .5" and 1" on top of the drop supplied for the lift. Didn't change anything. I also noticed the tranny mount was weak so I replaced that hoping it was the culprit....still no change. I am really getting frustrated.

How about slop in the driveshaft. If you experience any of the shimmy with the rear wheels off the ground, I'd try placing a bright mark on the drive shaft, then looking for inappropriate movement when you take off.

If the wheels have to be on the ground, maybe you could borrow and mount a camera on the underside.

I have no idea whether this would be useful, its just food for thought?
