+ or - when put in park

I have a 2003 Ford Excursion and i need a wire lead that will give me a + or - when i put it in park. Does anyone know if there is such a wire?
It's for my drop down custom nerf bars and i cannot use the door because my kids can't reach the door handles.

This suggestion isn't affected by park but how about tapping into the courtesy lights? If you are using a remote to unlock the doors the lights come on before you touch the door handle.

Yes i was going to connect it to the door locks also but i pick my kids up from school and the truck is running so i would have to unlock the doors but i wanted it with the park for safety but if i can't find a solution i will use the door locks.

How about a two relay set up. One that works with the courtesy lights and one that is wired to an override switch you control manually?

I have 2 DEI 528T pulse timer relay to work with so i just might use them with the pulse of the door lock/unlock. I'm just thinking about my 3 year old playing with the button. My custom bars are air activated and drop down about 12" or so. I will post pictures this weekend if i get of my lazy butt and install them.
