Hey guys....I was wondering if this is normal. This trailer is all alum and unloaded. This truck is squatting bad. Heck when I had my 4 wheeler on a 12 foot open trailer all the way forward, it caused the truck to squat.
Is this normal? Is the truck ok? I have to take this trailer tomorrow to WV and want your opinion. The book says the truck can haul 14,000 pounds. This is redicilous. I would expect more but this is my first f250. Always had 350 doolies.
If you look through the forums long enough you'll realize quite quickly that this is a known problem with the 250's. It's all because they wanted to make it a smooth riding truck unloaded. Your best bet if you tow often would be to get a set of air bags.
Ok. Cool. I was worried. Even the bed at the top near the cab shows that the truck is squatting. The gap at the top is longer than at the bottom. That had me worried too. Thanks for the compliments on the truck
That is one sweet trailer! I have an ATC fifth wheel cargo trailer I use for work, great company. Heck, your truck is mighty fine but the trailer is equally sweet.
I agree that you will be fine and won't damage your truck. My 250 was a big disappointment to me when I got it, my only complaint with these new ones. The 08 I had was much better in the trailer handling. Airbags solve the problem and are the perfect solution in my opinion.
What about the bed gaps? It's almost like the frame is bending and not strog enough.
Personally, I don't know much about that. My only issue is the rear leaf setup. I really don't feel comfortable criticizing anything else about these trucks. I do have a leaking radiator but it might be a fluke, one time only thing, so hopefully that will be the end of the story. If not, then I will gladly add it to the list of things I will openly criticize.
yeah, I always say I should have gotten a 350, another problem is the f250 stock sits almost level it may have 1" rake in the back. this means ANY type of load is going to cause sag. alot of the problem would be fixed if they just put the 4" f350 rear blocks in the back, that is what I did and it helped a TON. the overload spring is the final piece of the puzzle if I could find one off an f350 for a decent price I would add it to my truck. if you get the camper package on the f250 it also comes with the overloads, but still retains the 2" rear blocks. the f350 should ride the same unloaded as the f250 because the overload spring is not touching. bottom line, just buy an f350
I had a lot of squat on my 2000 Super Cab when towing my 5er till I put air bags on the truck. There was no permanent damage after towing, so I would not worry. Bought a 350 this time and could not be happier, truck levels when I hook up and tows like a dream.
My '11 dually squats an 1 7/8" with a 4000 lb 5th wheel pin weight. I also get the launch shudder....will try bags, I know it will level it but not sure if it will change the shudder...some say yes others say no....we'll see.
Have an 2011 F350 Crew Lariat with 15k 5th wheel and it does the same thing. Only issue we have noticed in 90k miles of driving is slightly excessive inner tire wear on the rears.
