Ive tried everything i can think of to get a new distributor for my 351 to go in. I set the engine at TDC and still nothing. tried 180 and 1/4 turn counterclockwise on it and still nothing. any suggestions or advice?
Put a socket w/ breaker bar on the crankshaft and slowly turn the engine over while lightly applying pressure to the top of the distributor. May need to give the dizzy a little wiggle and it should go right down.
351 Windsor or Cleveland? Small or large hex-drive?
Hold the old and new ones up and look at the end of the drive where they go into the oil pump and check. If they're the same size then they just take a little wiggling to get the gears meshed and dropped onto the shaft. A small dob of grease can help, or a bit of sump oil
I had to special order one from summit because the one i actually needed (not the one orielly's gave me) has to be special ordered. The one orielly's gave me was for a 77 even though i said 351C. So thats why it wasnt working. The one from summit dropped right in and should have her running this week. Thanks for the help.
