Brake controller recognizes trailer but doesn't brake
I recently bought a 2002 ford f-250, with the brake controller installed, Tekonisha Voyager I believe. Anyhoo, when I bought the truck I noticed one of the 20 amp maxi fuses (square jobbies) was blown so I replaced it. Just towed my first trailer with electric brakes with the truck and I realized the brake controller wasn't doing anything but turning from green to red. Found the same fuse blown again. I also replaced the receiver on the truck because a few of the terminals were corroded through. Any thoughts before I waste time with the ford dealer?

Since the fuse holds until you hit the brakes (right?) and the controller activates, you have a short somewhere on the blue lead to your seven pin or your trailer.
If it does it only with the trailer tethered, the short is after the seven pin on your truck. If it blows without a trailer hooked, the short is truckside.
If you did not have this problem until after replaceing the seven pin on your truck, check there first.
If you find that the fuse does NOT blow while unhooked, the most common place for a short is very close to where the connection is at one or both trailer wheels......
Red LED is a short in the system. During operation the LED should go from green (circuit complete) to darker shades of amber/orange as more power is applied. Red LED is a short or ground fault.
Do you have another trailer you can hook it to? If the fuse was blown when you got the truck I would suspect the issues is truck side. Check the wires under the rear of the truck for bare wire spots. I had one abrade through the insulation and arc to the adjacent 12v power wire to the trailer and they ended up fused to gether in a big mess.
