My truck had dropped down to 10-11 mpg. I found the IPR was stuck wide open and causing the HPOP to pump over 3000 psi. I took it out and cleaned it and now its back up to 18.
Greg how did you find out your IPR was stuck ? Did it pull a code? And did you take it apart to clean it or just spray it down with carb or brake cleaner? Thanks
i have the same white smoke at startup but only in the am...never after sitting at work?? i just replaced my orings in may with the help of some great guys including clay. i also did GPs...but found out i have a bad one. mine smokes for about a min or less and then goes right away. i have read that white smoke is from the engine being cold. mine also does it at any temp in the am...80 to 42. i replaced the injector orings because my fuel filter would be black after about 300 miles. im hoping mine is just GP related...dont want to have to do orings again. please let me know your outcome
I dont know how much a 6 speed increases mileage but when I get 15.2 mpg Im a happy camper. The best mpg ive ever gotten was 16.16 babying it shifting under 2K rpm with CC set on flat land. Despite my lift and big tires believe it or not it doesnt hurt mileage like most would think. I average 14.5mpg. Have you had your truck a long time? Ive read and posted on other threads and 14-16 mpg is about average, less pulling, there are some trucks getting better mileage but most are 2WDs or modded more than most can afford.
If your truck blows white smoke when its cold out and you have the AIH Delete, it should be expected, like someone else said, its just from the cylinders being cold and will go away once it warms up for a min. The AIH is there to eliminate the white smoke on cold start ups, theres no other use for it.
thanks...
i was told by Clay that the AIH needs like 7 different things to happen all together for it to turn on. i dont mind the smoke and my mpgs are consistently 15.4-16.1...and all i drive are back roads to and from work...about 15 mins or less each day.

I have a scanner and watched the injection pressure. It hit about 3200 and never dropped at idle.
I pulled it apart using the instructions below and cleaned with carb cleaner.
Thanks Greg. I am having some kind of issue No lights and no codes! But my mileage has gone from 18.5 mpg to 10.5 mpg. I'll have to look into that. And power seems to be down a bit.
[QUOTE=powerstroker100;10890262]right your doing 80 mph on the highway getting 16.5 mph
I'm doing 62 mph and getting 15mpg so something must be up with my truck
Same here i can do 80mph and get about 16mpg and me driving 70 in hwy last time i checked was 18.6mpg
so trey since my ebp is cloged, bad sinsor wouldnt these be lower i dont notice it on the hwy but i do in town i was getting 16-17 city hwy mix 30 miles to school thru town on interstate in 8 oclock traffic it just fluxuates tons i still havent cleand it but iv been super busy going out of town ever weekend, my family is dropping like flies and with all these funerals, school, work time is very limited
maybe I could clean the ebpv tube and sensor, I heard that can increase mpg

The EBP tube is located on the front of the motor, and wraps around underneath to the passenger side exhaust manifold. Cleaning the EBP tube is very easy. It takes about a half hour. Use some wire, brake cleaner and you're good to go. Be careful with the sensor, as it can be damaged. Also, don't forget to check the hole in the manifold when disconnecting the EBP tube, as this can be clogged too. Here is a good write up on how do it.
I'm not sure if you can check with a scan tool, but I would suspect that a good one would be able to pull that information. 15MPG is not anything to really be worried about unless you are getting that on mostly freeway. I only get about 13MPG from tank to tank (but I have a fuel leak).
I was down to 10 mpg and the first thing I did was cleaned the EBPV tube and sensor with brake cleaner and my mileage went back up to 16 in the city. Mine was clogged shut. I just happen to get lucky with picking that as the first thing to try. There are many other things that can cause low mpg. Have you looked for any boost leaks cuz that will cause it also.
Just placed my order through riffraff diesel, I forgot to get one of the stickers to put on my back window haha,
but hopefully my orings and glowplugs will be here in the middle of the week and I can replace them, I have my ged test friday and saturday so I sure hope the truck will be ready to rock and roll by friday morning
I'm going to do the passenger side first to get the harder side out of the way, it looks like the bottom bolts I will have to get through the fenderwell, is there a bolt on the very back of the valve cover because I cant see
