Does Rain-X actually work?

We don't get much rain around here, but a lot of bugs, dust and ice, etc. I've always wondered if it would help.

It does work, speaking of the stuff you wipe on, but it doesn't last very long and I don't think it is worth the effort. Good fresh wiper blades are all that is needed IMO.

But I live in So Cal, so I am no expert on dealing with rain.

Has anyone tried the Rain-X washer fluid? I was tempted, but it cost quite a bit more.

I've read some Amazon reviews on Rain-X and one of them said the washer fluid was even better. But I can get the Rain-X on Amazon but not the washer fluid.

I use the rain-x washer fluid, i got it at target for 3 something for a pretty big jug. Works well, but sometimes with light rain it creates a little screen thats hard to see through and i just have to turn on my wipers for a pass every now and then

I don't know if it was my blades or the treatment ( I know it wasn't the fluid) but there was rain x on my truck when I bought it and it worked great. I could drive down the freeway in heavy rain* without my wipers on.

*Heavy for SoCal. Your experience may vary.

It happened rather sudden. Fine one day then the next it was about 1/2 the radius of the other

I love Rain X. I apply it as needed usually every other wash or so. The carwash soap I use has carnuba in it so that helps also. Like said earlier, during a decent rain I dont even need to run the wipers much. I love watching the poeple with the blades just a whaling and they still cant see out the windshield. Comes in handy cause I still run the stock Conti's and need to watch for deep water puddles. hahaha. Nice thread, I'm due for replacements before winter. Add it to the list.

I was going to say it seemed like it had ED (erectial disfunction) because that's all I could think of to describe it, but decided that was across the line. But since you went there anyway...
