I'm kinda all over. My office is in Cypress, I'm in west L.A. a couple days a week. Would definitely go broke or need a second job to pay for gas for the SD if it was a DD. But, that's not why I bought it.
I love the V10.
But think they sound HORRIBLE with loud pipes.
They've got a flat, and flatulent sounding, drone. As one person said, like a ricer's V6 with one of those big fart pipes.
At 19000 rpm, they sound mean as hades (think F1 cars from a decade ago), but unfortunately, still not good.

I've seen companies marketing 4 inch cat backs for these trucks, I don't think you'd lose a ton of low end if you kept the cat and went with straights or large pipe. My old 00 ran nice with 2.5" cat back duals, no muffler, just sounded like poo.
I heard a very throaty 00 on youtube, with a 4 inch tail, 3 inch Dynomax bullet + Ultraflow SS muffler. If I get another V10, that's close to the route I'm gonna go.

I now have a Straight pipe setup. use to have an MBRP muffler in there. i like the sound of straight pipes with the cats on. a lot of people want to get a V8 sound out of the V10s (which will never happen) so they put on from flowmasters to uber expensive catbacks. Honestly is what you prefer as far as sound wise. if you want a V8 sound....go trade it in for a 5.4 lol...dont go spend the $40 bucks for the Dynomax Bullet. instead get the summit brand "bullet" muffler half the price..sound is the same. but in the end its whats you prefer. check out youtube. or if you are ever in the LB area. hit me up. i can let you hear my truck first hand.
Nothing like the sound of Ford 2V motor that is done right..now i miss my Roush Mustang more! 97 Roush Mustang - YouTube

ill get some up. but the muffler on the EX is just a slip on type. so we just unbolted it and took it off. the MBRP i had has the exhaust clamps. we took it off because i need to get it welded on there.
I Straight Piped mine just a few weeks ago. Cut it off right behind the cat and put on a 3 inch pipe, then split into 2, 2.5 inch tail pipes with 4 Inch tips. The sound is very different. It's quiet in the cab to me when cruising about 55/60 mph. From 2500-3000 RPMs, it does cackle a bit and gets noisy. Just like everything, stay out of the pedal, it won't be annoying, get into it and it's loud. I didn't notice any power loss at all, did get a small MPG gain. Before Exhaust, i got 11.3 mpg on the interstate. Went interstate cruising the past two weekends and have averaged anywhere from 12 to 13.

my truck had 1200 miles on it and i removed the muffler and tail pipe and put a glass pack and an elbow that was cut off mid bend so the exghaust pointed toward the ground. i also noticed a small increase of about 2 mpg after doing it and i used to pull a trailer all the time and had no problem breaking the tire loose even with the trailer loaded with 12000lb and sitting heavy on the truck.
