I had just replaced a ton of parts due to an oil-cooler failure and then had a rough running conditions and with help here deduced it to be the EBP sensor and tube. Replaced the sensor and all worked fine for 5 days.
Drove the truck to work and all was fine. About a 20 mile trip and the truck got up to operating temps. Parked the truck for one hour and then drove 1 mile on my work campus, parked the vehicle for 30 mins and then it would not start.
Glow plug light lit up, heard the buzz of the fuel pump/injectors and saw the oil pressure dummy gauge in the truck move up and down while cranking...
Without having the SGII programmed for FICM, ICP, and other gauges, I checked voltage and it was fine. Cranked until the batteries drained. Towed the truck to the shop thinking it was an oil pressure related issue. Recharged the batteries and the truck has been working for the past 3 days. Checked the batteries and charging system and all checked out good.
I do see low voltage at initial start up for about a minute (11.9-12.6) and then is goes to normal (13.6-13.8) and stays there until the truck is turned off. This repeats every start up.
I feel this issue may resurface and am looking to you all as the experts on what I should watch on the SGII over the next week to feel a bit more confident in the truck.
Since you just did the oil cooler you might have gotten some trash in the IPR valve. You might want to pull the valve and check the screen for trash or a hole in the screen. If the valve got hung open it would dump all the HPO to sump causing a no start. It's a fairly common problem.
I would STILL remove the IPR valve and check the screen. You might be surprised what kind of trash is on it.
As Cheezit's told me....
When replacing an oil cooler, and if dirt or junk falls into that oil valley, it can easily trash an IPR valve, I would agree with npccpartsman and check your IPR...
If there is any damage to the screen, cracks, pushed back, replace the valve.
