Hi. The window in my driver side door of my 1993 Aerostar stopped working suddenly. It feels jammed actually. The motor sounds weak, but it tries to close the window, which is stuck open. At first we could lift it up by hand, but not the window will not budge.
This door only has small square openings in which to work through after removing inside panels.. The door appears to be one molded piece. Is there some way we are overlooking in which to get to the parts inside? My husband thinks we have to replace the entire door, since it doesn't seem to be a motor issue, but rather it is jammed.
First try some silicon spray lube in the felt tracks. Get a can with a straw and spray generously into the track that the glass rides in. Then repeat while running the glass up and down a few times to distribute the lube to the lower parts of the track that you can't get to.
The other thing to do is to see if the tracks inside the door are distorted, or if it or the glass is loose. They do need to be aligned properly in order for the glass to slide freely.
thanks...we did spray the heck out of the whole mechanism and runners. It seems to be jamming in the vicinity of the gear. The glass is nice and secure and all aligned correctly. I just wish we could get a better view of the gear area.
