I have heard of people having boost fluctuations during regen, but I haven't noticed that. It just acts like it's missing and sounds like a gas engine with detonation.

I had similar issue with my 6.4 under heavy load during regen and I believe it was caused by the CAC but ours on these motors are vastly different and I have not felt the "stutter" sensation with this truck.
Long list of components working during a regen, lots of sensors, turbo vanes, EGR valve, injectors. I would not know where to look first and/or how. Air and fuel delivery is crazy technical.
It does sound like detonation. And the air filter is new. At least I'm not going crazy!!!
It would be nice to know what causes it, but I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one! I wonder if Rick's truck did this prior to the HPFP failure?
No, my truck never had any symptoms like this one or any other... My truck always ran the same. The fuel economy picked up as I put miles on the truck but engine performance was always in the same envelope.
Even when the #4 injector started throwing a CEL, the performance never changed. I would have never known there was an injector problem if the CEL never lit.
Had it happen once running 65 with cruse on coming out of regen cycle. out side temp. was 70 or 75 deg. going thru Ind. But my 2008 F250 with stander trans. did it several times Ford never could fix the problem.
Just for clarification, my truck is in active regen when this happens. I never noticed the problem when a filter cleaning is not happening and it only seems to last a minute or two at the beginning of the regen cycle.
Mine was similar except that it lasted throughout the regen cycle. On one occasion it almost completely lost power going over a steep bridge, physically shaking the truck and making a lot of noise instead of the normal "intermittent hesitation".
I thought it was odd because I had just filled up at a Mobil station, I checked and found no water in the fuel.
It would regen every 90 to 150 miles and was "bucking" every time when the problem was at it's worst.
I changed out the fuel and air filters and thought that the problem was fixed, but it started happening again. Seemed to me that it had to be a fuel system/quality issue so I began filling up with Chevron and quit using the Power Service silver additive.
I have not noticed the bucking in the last 2000 miles and went from 17.4 MPG to 19.1 MPG. I'm going to add the Power Service at the next fill up and see what happens.
It is odd that the bucking started happening this summer with 16K miles on the clock.
My current theory is that fuel quality is a factor.

You may hit the nail on the head regarding quality: I found a station that had #1 diesel and filled up with that fuel - no problems for nearly 2000 miles, then I had it once again (of course after filling regular diesel on the road ). The truck ran MUCH better with the #1 diesel (too bad it is more expensive).
The problems which several of you have experienced is the same issues I was having. The dealer was reluctant at first to flash the computer. However since they preformed the computer update I have not had any issues.
While the TSB for the update does not specifically state the computer flash will address this bucking issue-- it certainly helped mine
I hope your right trails2004 I just got my 2011 F250 back from the dealer yesterday after a trans. TSB and reprogramming update. I haven't really had any wheel time yet, But I know I'll have to retrain my trans. computer so I'll give her a good run this weekend. T.G.I.F.
There is a long thread on the Dieselstop site about shudder/shift flares etc. which addresses this problem. Seems like quite a few of us are experiencing this problem. Hope someone stumbles on a cure soon!

Okay for the last 2 fill-ups I have been adding a generous dose of fuel additive that contains cetane booster. This issue does seem to be fuel quality related. Yesterday during a regen that involved the vehicle continuously moving for the entire cycle, everything was much smoother. Still not as smooth as what I would consider to be "normal", but much smoother, maybe 90%.
I am going to continue the additive for one more tank of fuel then run the following two tanks without it to see if the trend continues. My Edge CTS arrived today also so that should help keep track of the regens and soot accumulation.
I took here in Friday, After driving around with the tech for a hour. And getting it to do it one time. He checked the harness for the EGR. There was a TSB for wire rub. He reflashed it with a update and all weekend it hasn't done it again. I even towed the camper for a quick weekend trip. She seems to be fixed. I also use diesel keen with cetan boost in ever tank. Thanks for everyones input
My truck has been doing this for a long time! I cant stand it!
I had the new trans flash when it first came out and the truck seemed ok for a little while but then like someone flipped a switch it started again and my fuel mileage dropped from 18.2 to about 15.2
Dealer said everything is fine!
Well i call friends at ford and they found a tsb for trans parts
They replaced a three of these things and reflashed it again.
Well all was good for a while then just last week mileage dropped and it started bucking again! This time i hit 19.4 on a long trip now i am getting
15.2 again.
Both of these time i start getting regens way to often also
This sucks truck has been in and out for this way to many times
