another oil psi problem help!!

ok i have a 79 f150 4x4 with a 400 in it mostley stock just has a rv cam and 4bbl intake. ok now when i was driving it home from work i looked at my aftermarket oil gauge and it was on 0 the truck was running fine well i drove it for a mile or 2 like that stoped at a gas station thinking it was time for a new motor. so i checked under the hood i was hoping the oil gauge line was pinched and i was full on oil, i was thinking that the oil pump took a crap cuz there was no loud knocking well i wanted to get it home so i got in fired it up and soon as i left the gas staion i looked and the oil psi was up at 20 psi again around 2500rpm any thoughts on what went wrong and why it started working again lol never had a truck fix its self before...should i just run it im working on getting a motor here in the next w

May of just been a momentary "glitch" with the gauge itself.

I'd just keep an eye on it, and see if it happens again. Something might have gotten caught in the filter and shutting the truck off let things settle out of the way. Who knows.

By aftermarket I assume a mechanical with a oil line. Possible air bubble in line ? I'm just guessing but watch it close.

you should replace that plastic line with the copper one (10 bucks). The plastic are known to fail. Not that that's what happened just an fyi. I agree with the above possibilities.
