Okay, i took my truck to RCD and got it set up somewhere around 600 hp. Got it back and it took out the stock tranny the 2nd day. Now I took it back after it had some turbo surging issues. since then tranny has been rebuilt and I drove it there to make sure everything was good and it was running awesome.
Got about 30 min from the house on the way back the converter keeps locking in and out of full lock up anytime its supposed to be at full lockup. It was running fine and now even in OD when you get on it its like it will go and then the rpms rises a little and comes back down like 50rpm back and forth like something is slipping and grabbing.
The tranny is locally built even though I was gonna go with gogo or nadp
The RCD tuning ran awesome when I test drove it there. Drove awesome all the way home till I accelerated pretty hard at an intersection and then bam TC lockup goes to crap and its erratic. It locks up in and out really fast now instead of really smooth when I first drove it. Put a street tune on for now but no lockup. This thing seriously will go from 60 to 100 in 3 seconds when it was running right.
Its doing the same thing now that it did when I first got it without the surging issues
It is with full lockup. My street tune is probably like 450 hp if even. The race tune is probably every bit of 600 with full lockup. It is a drastic change. Im calling them monday hopefully I can talk to someone other than the ******* sales guys. I emailed eric at inno already and hopefully they can talk and eric can write me one I have had better luck with his shifting. Honestly i dont think its RCDs tuning this time it was perfect and then bam it hit the floor.
Yes. I took it back it had an injector issue and it was sucking the aem brute force and collapsing it not getting enough air causing the turbo to surge. Couldnt figure it out went back and forth with gogo inno and rcd trying to work it out finally said f it and brought it back to them and thats what they found.
I just got it back today test drove it injector spool valve is fixed and afe was installed no more surging and shifting was great lockup was smooth. It was live tuned by josh
30 min from home it started doing the above after the 4 hour drive home...
I have no turbo lag and power is amazing. After new intake I see 700-800 degrees going down the interstate. Just wish I could figure out the shifting issue with lockup
So I loaded up one of innovatives tune this morning and it was locking up just fine. I ran RCDs tune for 100 some miles and it was fine, and was shifting perfect before I left.
They run about the same other than innovatives is surging like before. What a nightmare wish I could have Innovatives shifts with RCDs motor tuning. Please any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Shifts seem to be getting worse and worse with the rcd tune I reloaded it to see if it would maybe reset or something.
Why would it be perfect and all of the sudden just stop working right?
If it were me, I'd have Eric try to fine tune it first. Let him know exactly what you have and go from there. There could be a problem with the tranny rebuild, but the only way you'll know is to try and resolve any tuning issues first. It's not throwing any tranny codes so that's a decent sign that the rebuild is okay. If the tuning isn't right you can fry that tranny.
This turbo is very hard to get right with the surging. Then again it maybe possible to get it right now with the problems fixed. I have fried one tranny already. I know all about it believe me. Just cant get passed how good it was shifting when I picked it up. It was live tuned!
Eric has already writted several tunes for it but hopefully now it can be worked out. Already emailed him. Tranny is built like I said and should hold but if I went with the nadp there would be no doubt in the back of my head all the time. Guess Ill give doug a ring again to see if he can work on another one as well since his shifts were right on turbo just liked to open all the way at lower rpms and sound like it was unplugged
