I recently installed a terminal block to give me a few extra 12v key-on connections so I don't have to splice into a bunch of wires. I ran a wire to one side of the terminal block and just used a jumper to connect all four terminals on that side. Each has a fuse so they are separated, but I am just wondering if this is okay to do or if this will cause problems. The other question I have is that the relay I am using is pretty hot to the touch. Is this normal?
Terminal block is fine. Make sure the relay is rated for continuous duty and enough amps to cover whatever you hook to it. I'm assuming you are powering the strip thru the relay.
Ya it's a 30amp relay that is powering the block which only has the radio, a voltmeter, and the choke connected to it, so 30amp should be more than enough. Plus, the 12v to the relay is fused, the key-on to the relay is fused, and all of the new terminals are fused. This should give more than enough protection. The only thing that bothers me is the relay is pretty warm to the touch, is this normal?
