Yup. It ain't on either one of those. Nowhere to be found in any of the places that I've read it might be.

The tag you posted. where did that come from. Off the drivers door?
If the door does not look like it has ever been changed or repainted a different color. That maybe the original.

Are you talking to me or Irwnn? The pic & quote came from post #10 in this thread. And that was my question. 'Where was that tag'?
Now that I looked at my van again I can see the holes where the rivets used to be in the door. Don't know how I missed that the first time. I guess the tag is just gone. Oh well.
Looked at the braces behind the tail lights for the 3rd time. The VIN # still ain't there.

No biggie I guess. I kept thinking it was a '61 & hadn't looked at the title for a long time but now I'm convinced it's 1966. Has a tubular engine mount/crossmember. Appears to be an 8" rearend. Appears to have the original paint.

Has a pop top like this.

And after sitting under the trees for years looks like this.

Ok I missed the quote thing on the tag. Sorry. I missed out on one of these a number of years ago. Saw it at a wrecker. I thought someone did a good job of making it into a camper. Did not know it then. It has been crushed now. Shame I did not know. Will be nice to see it done though.
65 to 67 Vans have the tube engine frame. The heater box is up under the dash. The doghouse for the engine has a hump on the back of it for the different tranny mounting. that causes the tranny to sit in a different position.
Otherwise they share most everything. Oh yeah seat tubes sit higher and mount in a different location on the floors.

Check out this one I ran across while looking for that data plate location that I should have seen the first time.

Read more about it here. More pix too.
1961 Ford Econoline/Travelwagon conversion "A TRUE BARN FIND"

I bought mine years ago for 200 bucks. Dead 144 six. Was displayed with the top up & I had never seen a top like that.
Sucked me in.
It has just been sitting & used for storage since I have way too many other cars & motorcycles.
Got a herd of the gen 2 Econos, 1969 –‘74s.
I post a lot under another name here.

Do you have the small floor hump behind the engine doghouse? If so, yours is a 1965-1967. The VIN should be stamped on the top of the hump.

Also the VIN is on the floor under the lip of the doghouse. Usually at the front or passenger side. You have to remove the wall of the doghouse and scrape away the black gunk to see the number.

In 1961 the tag was on the door hinge post, not the door, so if you have holes in the door, your tag was removed. Also be aware that folks often swap out doors from another van and forget to transfer the tag.

Thanks. Yeah I ran across that here, post #5. Was gonna add that info here myself, just hadn't got to it yet.
VIN number locations on Econolines
The van is packed with too many parts right now to see the numbers on that hump. But that's ok, I know it's a '66. Heater is under the dash too.
I knew about the numbers under the doghouse lip.
