I am going to be getting a scanguage ll in the near future and was wondering what good mounting options in our trucks were. Also what other gadgets do yall have and where are they mounted? I currently just have a windshield mounted gps and a sirius satellite radio mounted just underneath the storage bin where the factory trailerbrake would be.
I just bought the Edge Insight monitor because of the camera feature I want for my tailgate camera. But I'm impressed with what I have been reading about the Scangauge. And it's much less money.
I used the supplied velcro and put it on top of the steering column. Very easy to see and out of the way.
that is my plan. been waiting 5 days for the damn thing to get delivered. I've got some nifty 3/4" or 1" firewall grommets. I plan on drilling a hole and using them to hide the cord behind the dash trim

No need to. plugs into the obd port then route the wire up behind the big panel below dash and tuck between upper trim panel and column. Nice and neat.

. I mounted mine in the same place but on inby the gauge cluster and not on the colum you can pull out on the plastic in front of the gauges and get the rj4 plug threw there pretty easily to hide the cable just tucked execesse cable behind dash panel by the fuse box

Did you ever get yours in and installed? I'm very interested in the Scangauge. I have a lot of friends that say I should get the edge cts insight programmer
combo but I'm not sure I want a programmer. I still have 34 months of warranty left...any opinions? Thanks,
Clint
I love the scangauge. I mounted it ontop of the steering column. Immediately after the hazard button. The cord is tucked between the instrument cluster and dash surround. completely hidden.
The Scangauge is an amazing product. It comes with good gauges straight out of the box, then you can program in pretty much anything else you'd ever need using the XGauge feature.
I'm happy with the $159 I spent on mine. Well worth the money. FWIW, I dropped $300 for 4 gauges on the pillar as well. So best bang for the buck is the scangauge. Especially as it reads EOT and ECT
Thanks Tylus! I think I'm going to order the Scangauge II and a Blendmount for it to mount too. I'm hoping the Scangauge will be able to display info from the three temp sensors on the exhaust (in front of cat, between cat and dfp, and behind dfp). I'm hoping the one in front of the cat will work as an exhaust gas temp source without having to use a secondary pyrometer. Thanks again to everyone for all the great info!
Clint
You are going to be disappointed with those sensors NOT giving you the EGT's.....
Really?! After looking at the xgauge list I hoped that would be a great source for EGT. I really don't want to add a lot to my dash...I just want good well organized data. Thanks for the heads up, even though it sucks!
I mounted my SGII now over by the grab handle on the dash. I'm now trying out the Torque App on my phone. Going to be a learning curve on that, but it is cool.

the EGT everyone is worried about is the exhaust manifold temps before they enter the turbo. too high a temp and you are looking at cooking the turbo
sensors after the turbo aren't really useful for anything
