ok fell in love with a new tire Ratings, reviews and specifications for Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires
now just need to make my dang mind up on which size to get for sure, i originally thought 235/85r16 would be great in the snow being narrower but just my luck they don't make this tire in that size with white letters...... next choice which i have now is 265/75r16 so i know these fit good with no rubbing and come in white letter but kinda thinking about taking it a step further and go 285/75r16 i know thay are a lot wider but also a lot taller which could help in deep snow? only issue i may have in rubbing, my running boards are built into the mudflap so anyone know how close they get to mudflap and ill have to space the bumper out or cut it.
I got my BFG All Terrains for 350 bucks for all four...
I also considered these retreads....its a pretty reliable company, and they have a good warrenty for their tires....They have BFG's, Mud Terrain Tires and I believe a good highway tire....They got the BFG pattern in 285 as well...
I did on the motorhome last year when it still had the old rear tires. Did a great job. It's a marker I bought from a truck stop, make for making white letters.
Loved it, but shortly before replacing those tires, I rubbed a curb on the passengers side, and it was all gone.
So it's great as long as you stay away from curbs
It's to bad I can't really make white letters on the new Michelin's now, they just don't have the right design to do it. No raised black letters.
I am running 285/75r16 Yokohama Geolander AT/S on a 9" wide wheel. Had to trim under the front bumper for clearance but they look 10x better than the 265/75s that were on it before.
I've had the treadwright tires for about a year now, 265/75r16 in the Guard Dog tread. They're pretty loud on the highway, like I here the tires over the engine, but not by much. (either way the radio is cranked up to cover the engine). I've also lost a few MPG's. I figure a little is from the more aggressive tread pattern, and a litle is from the wider tire (was running 235/85r16 before). I didn't want to go for the wider tire, but they didn't have 235/85's in the style I wanted (or at all?).
I've done some light off-roading with them at the summer camp I work at and haven't had any issues. They did ok in the snow, I didn't really try driving in heavy snow so to be fair I can't really rate the snow performance.
Mine came on Toyo Open Country M/T casings and they've fooled several people who thought it was really Toyo treads. Depending on what they have in stock, you can request a certain brand for the casings if you have a preference. Shipping cost a bit, but I'm on the east coast... It was still a lot cheaper than new tires though!
I just put new tires on my 84 yesterday, 235/85 R16 BFG A/T's. I had them mounted white lettering in.
I usually like the white out, but with my plans of going satin black on the truck and blacking out everything, it just suits my plans to have the white inside.
