Vin decode please

Just picked up an old and tired 1949 F-1. Glove box plate reads
97HC 336187
9HC
The truck currently has a V8 flathead and four speed (one ton?) gearbox. Pictures comming soon.

9 - 1949 or 1950 (depends on production sequence number)
7H - 6 cyl
C - 1/2 ton
336187 - production number

Looks to have a high production sequence number. It's likely a 50.

Does the Data tag on the firewall and/or stamping on the frame match the glove box plate?

Plates and tags are often changed, albeit illegally, when papers are missing. Do you have registration papers or a title for the truck? Does the numbers on your papers match the tag? Have you looked for the numbers on your frame (the legal vin) to see if they match? That vin decodes to a 49/50 226 6 cylinder F-1 truck. As mentioned, with a consecutive unit number that high, the tag is most likely a from a 1950.

Your half-ton could have a 4 spd as original equip.

It looks like the cross member at the back of the transmission has been hacked to get it to fit. It likely got the flathead V8 about the same time.
