WTF? Pictures please!! They threw it away...and I guess they couldn't get it out of the trash? Oh, I know, the trash truck just "happened" to empty the dumpster just before you got there. RIGHT! What friggen "pipe" did they have to cut off and re-weld? I'd make then show me, first thing in the friggen morning.
...and you wonder why I don't trust a single shop mechanic on the planet!
Maybe it was the catalytic convertor that they cut off and welded a straight pipe to replace it? That would make it a little louder after you picked it up and drove it, but that had nothing to do with why you brought it in to them in the first place, IMHO. If it was the convertor, they may have kept it to scrap out, they are worth money for the metals inside. They don't sound like a straight shooting shop...

Huh?????
Latricer28 had added a post entitled "help!!!" in somebody's existing thread in 80-86.
I merely extracted that post + one reply and created a brand-new thread here (in the Excursion forum) with them.
I added my own post to this new thread describing what I've done, this will send e-mail to latricer28 + the author of the response and will include a hyperlink to this new location.
I had never before seen nor touched that other, 8 yo thread to which it appears latricer28 has also posted yesterday....
Was this a Ford dealer or private shop? I'd be surprise if it was a Ford dealer, it's illegal to remove a cat and replace it with a straight pipe. If that is in fact what you're talking about.
The $138 reference might also lead you to believe that it could not have been a stealership. Plus a stealership should be in the habit of not just throwing parts away...

Reading the OP's first message, he said that the pipe was cut off of the throttle body. Again, what pipe is there that can be cut, other than that pre-heat thing that passes coolant through the TB....and what did that have to do with the original issue that he took the truck in for?
