I am about to purchase a ranch hand grill guard for my 99 f150 2wd. The salesman said the guard weighs about a 130lbs. I was wondering if this would affect my trucks ride hight, tire wear or anything else.
I appreciate the advice. I talked to the guys at RanchHand yesterday; they said the grill guard only weighs 106 lbs. I think the extra front end wear is a small price to pay for the protection that I am getting. I drive where the deer are all over the road at night, so I really need the extra protection up front.
I have heard that grill guards can actually cause more damage in an accident by crushing stuff that normally wouldn't get crushed. I have been thinking of putting one on my truck but that is a drawback I don't want.
Just build it right then. Mine folds down as a platform, but was strong enough to hold up the front of the truck when I rolled it at 45mph. Check the 83 Bronco album in my sig link.
