Ok, I just acquired some nice power tools, i.e., table saw, 12" band saw, router, and a planer/joiner.
It started raining as we packed up the tools and some of them have light rust on the work surfaces. I was raised using paste wax to clean/polish/lubricate the working surfaces of such tools. Then, my dad told me to use PAM, as in the no-stick cooking spray.
Anyone ever try this? He has and swears by it, but I just need some other opinions.
And if anyone has any other uses that aren't typical?
Pam come's in handy for emergency use, but the man is right, it will start stinking after about 2 week's. It depend's on the temperature. 3in1 is the safe bet. I have also noticed that WD40 will make raw metal rust faster.
Used motor oil will loosen old rusted up tools.
A friend of mine told me this as I was about to throw away some visegrips that were rusted together.
It works just lay the tool in some old oil.
Come back a couple days later you will be surprised.
