I pulled the heads off of my 96 F250 with the 351. Head was cracked right between the exhaust valve and the intake valve above the number one cylinder. I have two remanned heads that look great. I don't know how much they shaved off, probably not alot, but still worried about increasing the compression on top of a block with 159k on it.
So, do i go with an OE head gasket or do I order head gaskets that are fatter to compensate for the milling of the heads? Any recommendations? I love this truck and would love to get at least another five years or so out of it. I only put 5-10 thousand miles a year on it, as it is my summer work truck.
I wouldnt worry about it, just use a good gasket set and bolt them down. this engine isnt that finicky. also try and find out why it cracked the first set. cooling prob etc.good luck hope i helped.
Thanks< I probably am over analyzing it. I noticed the intake manifold was probably leaking colland into that cylinder for quite a while. Would that have contributed to the craking of the head?
