E40D

Want to get an E40D trans to rebuild for my 95 f250 5.8 4x4 HD---What year did they make the latest upgates to the E40D?---Thanks--God Bless--John

Shift patterns were standardized in the late 60's thanks to Ralph Nader. ALL vehicles manufactured since then are PRN and then whatever gear number.

get the same year trans out of the same truck. then buy/upgrade what ever you like. the gearset itself doesnt change. you might search because i know there are threads with actual links to sites for upgraded e4od parts and such.

Ok, I thought I read that in 95 Ford changed the shifting to make the E4OD shift smoother.

Whats PRN?

PRN= Park, Reverse, Neutral

Ford changed many of the internal components throughout the life of the product. If anything, Ford increased the line pressure over the years to reduce slippage/heat.
