Ford X-Plan

I am considering purchasing a 2012 King Ranch. I am elegible for the X-Plan. Is this generally a good deal or am I better off negotiating without the X-plan?

Has anybody used this and were they happy with the deal they received?

It took 5,500 plus 3,500 rebate off the price.

go to the ford partner website and do a comparison based upon the x-plan. It should factor in the rebates if I recall...or at least let you know what they are and then of course the invoicing price.

If you have Costco, Sams, or Amex they all have car buying programs which seem to do well with the price.

When I purchased (Jan 2011) my 2011 F350 PS Lariat Ultimate, I was all set to purchase a F250 PS Lariat using X-plan, but it was Friday and salesman was leaving town for the weekend and asked if we could close on Monday. Gave me all weekend to research how good of a deal X-plan was and in my case I found a dealership that was offering a better deal than I was getting with X-plan.

F250 List price - $55,955 ............. X-plan deal & rebates - $48,014

F350 List price - $61,555 ............. Negotiated price plus rebates - $50,664

Good luck price hunting!!!

I have many Fords over the years using the X plan, when you register for the vehicle you want to buy you will have to print the number out that's assigned for the deal. After haggeling the price of your new vehicle, then give the salesman the X plan number.

X plan is nothing special. You can do MUCH better just walking in.

I used the X plan when I bought mine and it did help some. That said it only helped save about 1,100 or 1,500 when it was all said and done. I love the negotiations with dealers, I have friends and family that ask me to go do it for them once they know what they want. I have yet to hear anybody getting a better deal than I have, although I did see a couple other guys on FTE get about the same. There was a thread a loooong time ago about pricing, back 10 or 12 months ago when these first were getting bought.

What I found about X plan was that different trucks and different equipment options had different discounts. I also found that most of the dealers I contacted would give you X plan and wouldn't budge on any further deals, they would say we can't do that. I say BS. I found 2 dealers that would do better. I live in Atlanta suburbs and can call about 10 dealers within 45-60 minutes of my house.

I finally got EXACTLY the truck I wanted at the best price possible, which included the X plan plus a deeper discount off that. People get hung up on this price plan, or below invoice, or invoice minus $500, etc etc etc. Bottom line is find the truck, or build the truck you want; then call 3 to 5 dealerships and get them to give them the best price. LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! Then take the best 2 offers and tell them both that you are getting a better deal at the other dealership.

Some will ask for the quote to compare, I said well would you give me your deal in writing? They always don't want other dealers to know how low they will really go. I actually had two dealers trying to buy/transfer the same truck from a third dealer and then sell it to me at a lower price than that third dealer was willing to sell it to me for.

I then did a bait and switch on the dealer I bought from. My dream truck was actually sitting on their lot the whole time. I said if you make it worth my effort I'll go ahead and accept the one on their lot even though it wasn't what I was looking for. They took it hook, line and sinker. Then I said they needed to through in 3 tanks of fuel and 2 detail washes. DONE!

I will say it took a couple weeks to do all this, but like I said I actually like it.

I know Baltimore is not close where you live, but thought it gives a good example of discount that is available from high volume dealer

This is where I purchased my F350 last Jan and found it simply by googling 2011 F350.
