I've got a vacuum leak and started looking at the lines. It appears that Ford used smaller lines on the Super Dutys and adapters to connect the lines to the various vacuum connections. Many of the adapters look like they are at the end of their life. Has anyone replaced these with standard vacuum lines (larger ID) and eliminated the adapters? Don't see why I can used standard lines, but not sure if they caused any issues. Thoughts?
All of the vacuum lines. The rubber adapters that connect the plastic lines are failing. Rather than screw around hunting down vacuum leaks, I plan on buying a roll of hose and replace them all.
Found my problem. Damn squirrel chewed thru 3 vacuum lines and nibbled on the insulation on 4 wires. Used 7/64 inch vacuum hose to create splices on the hard plastic lines. Still need to replace some of the rubber adapters, but it's all working again.
