massive vibration

I have a massive vib that i cannot pinpoint, it is anywhere from 20-50mph and does not matter if you are wot or in neutral costing. I have been under the truck every day for a week shaking everything i can get my hands to. All u-joints have about 5000 miles, carrier baring is new so is rear yoke. the only thing i can think is zf5 is failing at 149,000(maybe a lemon) any ideas

Where do you feel the vibration the strongest? Steering wheel, seat, shifter, floor board etc.?

What kind of rims do you have?

Lost wheel weights, and it's a wheel vibration?

Take a close look at the center bearing. My son ha d a new installed wrong and it lasted a little while and vibrated like something was going to destroy itself.

IDI John i am thinking something with the wheels also, however it is getting worse by the day, and has no effect at highway speeds, here is a pic of my current setup

Marianna. The center bearing feels tight, not sure if those can freeze like u-joints or not but i don't think that is the problem

Gotta LOVE that montana background...anyway...I think I know what it may be, I have the same vibration, and I think I have it pinpointed....its a clutch issue, it will shake my entire truck at anywhere from 15-45. It stops after that....I was told that it is a worn out pressure plate or a newer clutch that has a uneven amount of wear on the pressure plate.

Id think a clutch would be an rpm issue, check your u-joint u-bolts, and the yokes, the locating tabs on the yokes can wear allowing the u-joint to come out of center and cause a nasty vibration that will make your 4x4 shifter a big blur.

Do you still have the duel mass flywheel? It sounds like the center bearing in the dmf is going bad. The vibration can come and go with them, as it will center up, then let all the ***** in the bearing run to one side and you get the vibration. If it is the dmf, don't let it go to long as it can crack the bell on the zf. Don't ask how I know!

Have you checked all your ujoints?

Have you tried poping it into neutral when its making this noise? Does it go away? Ball joints, carrier bearing, out of balance tire, bent rim..

I think that i am leaning towards something in the clutch assembly, The clutch feels as though it is starting to slip also. I think next weekend i am going to pull the tranny, new clutch, new flywheel(single mass) and all new bearings.

What he said. Replacing the clutch is a lot of $ and effort when maybe you just have a bad tire or something.

the vibration is felt basically everywhere. Also when at highways speeds or anytime driving above about 2100rpm the t-case shifter vibrates so hard it literally hurts to grab a hold of it.

When cruising, when this is happening, try shifting in neutral and release the clutch pedal. See if it does any difference.

What kind of fly-wheel do you have on it. I see "now sporting a ZF5" so it's a swap in.
