Just went on a 450mi highway trip this weekend and got my best mileage to date: 450mi/31.2G=14.4mpg! Pretty pleased with that. I never thought I would break 13mpg before I bought it after reading all the posts here and on other sites.
No load-just me and my 11mo old son and a few hundred lbs of tools and stuff in the cab. I guess I did between 60 and 70mph for 90% of the miles.
Definitely getting better as it gets some miles on the odo. Just hit 8600 miles today. Plus I think the K&N filter helps a little, although I know some will say otherwise. At this rate my truck's highway range is over 400 miles, which is nice because I don't like to stop alot when I go on a trip.
Ok.Left Sacramento headed up hill to Reno averageing 55-70 mph pulling appx 9k lbs.Stopped to fill up after 135 miles and it took 19 gallons. That makes for 7.1 mpg with my foot in it uphill 80% of the way.Only complaint is the rather small tank I have on this short bed crew.I think its the 23 gallon one.Anybody ever tried the Tranferflow custom bigger tanks?

Average mpg for v-10
Don't know about the short ones, but you were close on the long beds -- 38 gallons. I don't have any experience with the Transferflows, but I hear good things about them -- pricey, but good is the beat on the streat.
My short bed has a 29 gal. - as stated in the FAQ.
This brings up a good question... Why is there no option for duel tanks? They know the MPGs of these beasts. Do they think we'll feel like we're spending less if we can put less in, even though we have to stop constantly? Is there something in the way, or is it an emissions issue, or is it just plain silliness?
