1/8" toe should be fine. I'd bet your axle needs to be tipped back a little more. Did they check or set the caster? Most shops either don't know how or are too lazy to change the caster on a beam axle.....
Is the addition of the wedges to adjust castor only needed if you're running a drop axle or would it improve handling if you were running a stock axle? If I've read this and other threads about castor adjustment shims correctly, it's only needed with the drop axle.

The factory had castor shims on the stock front axle. They were 2 deg. At the higher speeds we drive today, more is better. 4-6 degrees is good on a stock axle.

Thanks Don. I'll look into getting some. I don't remember there being any shims there when I tool the truck apart.
My only comment would be that as you add more caster the original trucks become more "armstrong". If you have power steering (a modified setup) it does not really make a steering effort difference.

Since I'm going with a stock front end I was going to try and find either 2 or 4 degree wedges. Does anyone know where to get them? I can't find any in the catalogs I have.
PS - How are things in Harpswell? We enjoyed a weeks vacation there at Card Cove this summer.

You might be able to get those shims at your local
Napa Store. The Napa dealer here has them in stock.
