I too have never heard of priming before powder coat. However, I just heard about double coated pieces..... Has anybody else heard of this? will the powder coating adhere to itself? It would seem that the electrostatic attraction would be greatly deminished if you were coating a piece of metal that was already powder coated. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated as I have a piece that is powder coated and has a scratch on it. Thanks, Jag

I have heard of double powder coating, curing it for half the time, add more powder and then bake it for the full time... I had my motorcycle frame and rims done that way about 10 years ago...

Just picked the bumper up and it looks great... I will have to wait unit I get home from my trip before I can install it. Then I need to find some rear bumper brackets as I think I'm going to use my old front bumper on the front after I have it straiten? Then Powder coat it too.... along with the running boards...

I put a primer powder coat on a lot of items before final coat.

Does the primer help it have a little build? The parts that I've had powder coated look good, but they show all of your sins to some degree.

Some types of Primer will build, but most are for better protection.

I think they even make a chrome powder, I saw on TV (OC choppers)? And Ben the running boards look great.

The chrome powder doesn't look like chrome, just a shinny silver.
