Changed my oil last night and now I have a oil leak, it is coming from the area around the filter. I tried another filter and it is still leaking. I did some research and I think it is the oil filter cooling adapter or oil filter adapter?
I don't think this is what you need. I have an '03 with the 5.4 and developed the same descriped leak. Mine was the oil filter mounting adapter that developed a pin hole due to the corrosion. A friend found it when we put air pressure on it. Thank God I saw a little oil on the drive when I pulled out for a 200 mile trip and checked it. I would be looking for a new engine if I hadn't.
I think I would crawl underneath and wipe everything down clean and then try to see where the leak is coming from. You might have to dissassemble and put air on your adapter to make sure it is the problem. Without some investigation, your just guessing and hoping.
