I need to do the brakes on my 2006 F-350 4x4. Are the OEM calipers on this rig worth keeping? Once upon a time I had a 89 f-250 and the oem calipers were junk. Is that also the case on the 2006?
I think a 17 year difference is a pretty big improvement window. lol Im sure your calipers are just fine. Why would you replace em if they werent broke? Unless you NEED better stopping abilities. But im sure brakes on a 350 are pretty damn good..
I have had all of mine replaced by ford 3 times because they keep seizing up. I have looked for better ones but have not been able to find aftermarket replacements. That is one of the only problems that i have had with my 06.

Metal Panda, Do your home work or youll be walking
Maintain the slide pin rubbers and lubricate the pins and ways as recommended and flush your brake fluid! And yours will provide hundreds of thousands of miles of trouble free service! Over the past 13 years I have had 0 brake issues on my personal trucks! I can't say the same for my friends and customers who did not follow Fords instructions on this simple guide to maintenance!

The slides on mine were completely dry of grease, some loose and rusty some locked up stiff and rusty. Grease the slides, and as long as the cylinders move in and out freely keep the OEM.
There are a few auctions on eBay for rotor/caliper/caliper bracket/pads/slides/shims/boots for a ridiculously low number. Next time I do brakes I'g going to replace it all as the lower cylinder in the passenger side caliper is a little stiff.
