Another shock question....

Im looking to replace my shocks all around. Truck is:

2005 F150 FX4 4x4 SuperCab, 79,000 miles, 2.5" leveling kit, 33" tires on 20's

Looking to improve ride quality, truck is on the road 98% of the time..

What shocks would be best for my application? I'm thinking Rancho RS5000's, 9000's, Bilstein 5100's, or HD's, or possibly KYB?

I'm not looking to spend too much, as I will probably trade the truck in in a approx. 2 years.

Also want to know if I should just get stock length shocks for the front w/ the leveling kit? Or do I need a different application w/ the leveling kit?
Thanks in advance for any advice....

Rancho 9000s or Bilstein 5100s would be my vote. Additionally you could ditch your leveling spacer and get their leveling strut from either manufacturer.

If you keep your leveling kit/spacer, then you'll want to get stock length replacements.

What are (if any) the benfits of ditching the spacer for the quicklift struts?
Are the 9000's that much better than the 5000's? I don't think I really NEED the adjustability...?
Which shock gives a better quality/smoother ride? The Ranchos or Bilsteins?
Trying to keep it somewhat economical as Idon't plan of having the truck for much more than a year or 2 (at the most) more....

Thanks again for the input...

X3 with MCDavis & Coskid, but considering your timeline, I would probably let pricing be my driver. All mentioned are suitable and will give a good ride. No advantage to ditching spacers, they are just not required with the 9000's or 5100's since they can provide the same lift, and you do not want both (~4" total). FWIW, I am headed down the 5100 direction and will remove the spacers, but I plan to keep mine a long while yet.

I haven't had experience with Bilstein 5100. I'm sure they're awesome, I went with Rancho 9000 in past. Was very happy with it, I tow the travel trailer ocassionally and the ability to adjust my ride in back with and without the trailer was a big plus. Plus it gave me much improved ride over the previous (worn) shocks. According to numerous posts, many guys claim that Bilstein provide much stiffer ride. THis might be beneficial to certain people, but I like comfty/smooth ride. 9000 provide me flexibility. I'm in currently market for leveling in front, and most likely to go with Rancho quicklift struts as it includes 9000's adjustable feature.
Rancho 5000 would be good choice if the adjustable isn't needed at lower cost.

Thank you guys again for the replies. I think I'm gonna end up going w/ the 5000's ... a bit cheaper, and I don't tow anything more than a snowmobile trailer and atv trailer, so I don't think I really need that adjustability.
I appreciate the replies. I'll be sure to post back my experience w/ the 5000's once I get them on the truck (hopefully before winter arrives!)...

Thanks again.....

Actually went with the Rancho 9000's instead of the Bilstein 5100's. No regrets so far.

Can I ask you what you paid for the set? Did you also opt for the in cab adjuster?

How is the ride compared to stock?
Thanks

Is there any REAL difference/benefit in going w/ the quicklift over a regular leveling kit? I have a leveling kit s/ stock shocks... would it benefit me to go q/ the quicklifts, and take out my leveling kit? Or am I just spending extra $$$ that I don't really need to?
I appreciate the replies guys.....

Since you already got the leveling kit, you should be fine without the quicklifts. However, with stock shocks, that is another story. Rancho/Bilstein are considered upgrade over the stock for improved performance experience in overall driving. Quicklifts offer two in one, lift and performance shocks which is appealling. If you could return back the new stock shocks for performance shocks (either rancho 5000/9000), I think it's worth the hassle. Just my .02.

Thanks for the reply dilas... I didn't purchase stock shocks... just still have the original stockers on it (83K now)..... pretty much set on either bilsteins or ranchos... just trying to determine which ones, and model to go w....
