I was also wondering this as well. I have the yellow coolant on my 2002 Excursion PSD , and was wondering when it should be changed , as well as what i should add to it when it gets low. Should I only use the ford stuff , or can water be added safely ???
I was talking to my local dealer the other day about hose clamps and such. He did state that If you had the gold or yellow coolant that you should never use the green and visa versa. It has to do with the material in the system. One will mess with the other. Also it seems it has somthing to do with where they are manufactured. I wasn't able to get much more but it is extreamly important which your truck is/has or is recomended. I would take it to my local dealer and ask. He can find out with the vin through the Ford dealer or maintence records.
Just trying to help.
Powerstroker I really liked that guage you had. checked out the site and havn't seen one like that before. You said that it is a Westech gage ? What is the diameter of the gage? Could it be mounted in a pillar type mount or is it to large.
It is a 3" gauge, don't know if it will fit in a pillar pod. I didn't want pillar gauges thats why I went with the bigger 3" gauge. They do make a combo boost/egt gauge that will fit in the pillar pods. Order thier catalog, they have alot of gauges not shown on thier website.
Powerstroker....I noticed your rig is a 4WD, but where did you move the 4WD switch to? Did your year have it in a different place? I really like that guage and the location but my 2002 has the 4wd switch right there.......
thanks
Also.,....I have the same question as Joe Boost...my yellow coolant level is just below the line.....what do I add?
Just thought that I would let you know that I decided on the pod type guages that mount around the steering column. I found a nice set up using the 2 1/16 guages that set on both sides. I kind of liked this set up. It keeps the guages in one centeral area. I also decided on the white faced guages, it makes them a little more prevelent (sp) and easier to see. Once I get them in and everything working properly I'll get some pic's posted.
Thanks again for the info.
