2003 trans behavior

I was wondering if it is normal that when I am stopped and shift the transmission lever to "2" then drive, it seems like it starts off in 2nd gear. I feel no shift from 1-2 at about 1900-2200 rpms like usual. Also if I am on an incline, and get going (in "2") to about 5 mph the shift to "d" then it feels like the transmission shifts.

I just wanted to know if this is normal behavior

That is normal for it to start in second when shifted that way. I think it is for starting on snow and ice.
