Squeaky Brakes

Has anybody else experienced squeaky brakes when the truck is barely moving with the brakes applied? It is starting to drive me nuts during such maneuvers as inching up to an intersection or backing the camper into place. The best description I can give is it sounds a lot like the wear indicator, but it is more harmonic. I guess it is sort of like running a wet finger around a glass as far as the harmonics go.

Not here. You see any scoring on the rotors?

No scoring. It's not a grinding noise such as something stuck in a pad. It is a resonating sound resulting from friction and the rotor barely moving. It is slightly annoying, but I am picky. At least it beats the stuck calipers I have experienced before on these trucks!

Not in my '11 6.7. I had that with my '05 6.0 but not on this new rig.

I think my truck does the same thing you're describing 720Deere. When going from park to reverse/drive, it "barks" (seal bark in this case, not dog, lol) when lurching down the driveway...

Squeaky brakes when moving slowly with brakes mildly applied, yes. I don't like it but I'm not concerned, yet.

High pitch or a groan (is how I describe it)?
Mine groan at slow speeds, such as backing into my garage.

Heat up the brakes with some good hard stops from 45 MPH. Then blow out the dust with compressed air. Sometimes just doing the hard stops works but I always do both.

I know what you mean. Just the way it is I suppose, funny because I know EXACTLY the noise you are talking about but never thought to bring it up here.

Same thing with my 350 dually. After towing it is worse. Took it to the dealer and of course the said it is normal, especially if heated up from towing. If you find a cure let me know! The dealer said resurfacing the rotors would probably do it, but only for a short period.

Just a thought...I know you can't compare a F350 to a Fusion, but DW took her 2010 Fusion in yesterday for the fourth time in a year for "squeaking rear brakes".

Same story where they told her that it's normal or her imagination because they couldn't duplicate it. They turned the rotors and replaced the pads last time (about three months ago). Finally yesterday it did it when they test drove it and they couldn't believe how loud it was. It squeals when slowing from 5 to 0 MPH. They changed the rotors and pads.

I googled it for the Fusion and found a lot of complaints. I wonder if it's an anti-rattle clip or shim or new pad compound issue?

Yes. I stop at a guard "shack" and badge in/out every day at work.

Almost always notice when slow rolling (5MPH or less) up to the badge reader and apply the brakes, it squeals pretty loud. It happens right before the truck comes to a complete stop.

It's kind of embarrassing.

That's my point exactly! It is embarrassing especially in a campground when you have a bunch of drooling Dodge and Chevy owners watching you. I know if it was me on the outside listening to that I would be thinking what is wrong with that POS!

Heating the brakes up does nothing for the noise. I have on several occasions heated them up pretty good (no it wasn't from a white knuckle ride off a mountain) and that did not help at all. When I get some time, I'm going to pull the pads, clean everything up real good and try applying some new anti-squeak compound to see if that helps. I don't think turning the rotors would help this problem as it doesn't seem to be as much of a friction noise as it is harmonics.
