Seems a bit redundant considering there's already an inside cage and clean cabs are a dime dozen out Cali way (or so they say), but to each their own.
Proably take me two months of working at it here and there on weekends. $ not the issue here as I explained. My time to replace is more valuable as I'd rather just enjoy it then fix it..
As one who takes the path most don't care for I say go for it and take lots of pics for us. You only have to make yourself happy with the build, some will have helpful tips, some won't get it and some will hate it. This is a great site to share, thanks. Can you give more pics of your cage and how you tied it into the frame?
Yeah I build whatever I want as I have the tools and skills to do so whether people like or dislike.
As for more details on how it is tied into frame I already built 2 1/2 x 1/4'' wall rock slider bars under the rockers again to protect cab so it was a no brainer to bolt to them.
added 1/2'' gussets to stiffen up
1/2'' grade 8 bolts with nuts tacked on the inside for easy install and removal. Grade 5's were used for mock up..
I did have to extend them to get the front tubes of cage on as they were not originally for a cage
after adding these sections I drove it up a 8x8 post in the yard to see if tire would rub
only driver side extension was on and It did come way to close for my liking and they were only tacked so I shortened up another 1''. Test fit that paid off!
I really like those rock sliders. I need a set for my truck that act like steps a bit too. Have you lifted your truck with them yet to see how they behave?
Also dig the outside cage. Un needed in my truck but none the less cool.
