Okay, I know how to adjust the TPS, I know what the voltage range should be, I have traced the wires running from the TPS to the harness on the passenger side fender that runs into a larger harnes that runs around the front of the truck, behind the radiator, to the driver's fender and then into the firewall. Then it appears a smaller harness runs under and along the dash to the TCM. I want to know where the TPS gets its voltage from. I'm gonna order an Optishift for one of my trucks and I want to get my mind wrapped around exactly how and why the TPS works.
It gets its voltage from the computer which, if you are getting a stand alone controller, you will no longer need.
I think David85 has a Baumann controller so he would be the guy to ask for any programming advice (or anything else).
That makes sense since I didn't see anywhere else that the TPS is connected to for it to get power. But then if it gets its volts from the trans computer, how does adjusting the TPS change the voltage on the center wire? Shew! This thing confuses me!
It gets about 5vdc from the computer (Gray wire is feed? One other is the return and the third is the ground) and runs that through the resistor windings of the TPS, which drops the voltage at the idle side of the windings and goes up towards the WOT side of them. The trans computer uses these voltages to see what you're doing with your right foot.
