Looked at another '01 dually yesterday, seems to run well, has guage-pod 4" exhaust and the guy says it has a big boy shift kit in it, anyone know about these? Is it hard on the torq-converter when it shifts quick ? This may be the one I get next, it already has two things I won't need to buy. BTW, my nephew is the proud owner of my old truck and became an FTE member the other day. Thanks, Bill
big boy shift kit? any idea on the on the actual manufacturer or model of the shift kit?
I had a problem with an edge programmer causing my truck to shift way to hard, end result was a stripped clutch drum. It would shift so hard when loaded......lets just say it was painful.
If a shift kit is installed correctly fast shifts are fine, HARD shifts are where the trouble comes in.
My take is hard shifts are detrimental to ever joint in the drivetrain...every joint out to the wheel ends are going to get beat up. I have very quick shifts, but in no way could they be described as "hard" shifts.
