rear axle change

I am presently rebuilding a 1965 ford mercury 1/2 ton. I need to change the complete rear end, axle to a later 70's rear end axle with larger drum brakes.
Will one fit right in and if so what year will work.

rear axle change

I'm not positive on the Mercs but on f100s a '57 to '72 9" should be a bolt on swap. They have the same track and the '67 to '72 should have the larger drums your looking for.

I haven't swaped them, but supposedly you can also just take the brake assembly (including back plate) and bolt it on to the older axle.

Lightbulb rear axle change

the housing mounts for the backing plates are the same- and, of course, the bolt pattern at the wheel- if you dont want to swap the entire axle, you just need everything from the backing plates out- hope this helps!-dave
