hood alignment
You may even resort to lifting the cab higher on the frame. As you probably have already read, the stock ford hinges incorporate a slight "camming" action..not easily described but.., the last bit of travel in the hinges will pull the hood "down"..Your case may be as simple as 'raising' the hinges in their slots in the cab..so that the cam action can finish it's intended travel..maybe the front radiator support needs to go "down", ..or maybe just shifting the hinges in the cab slots rear at the top-and-out at the bottom..
Having said that, and after reading several articles myself (several times..) , my hard head needed to actually "SEE" it...Sooo, I mounted the hinges on a solid piece of plywood, clamped it onto the bench so it wouldn't move..
Then I cut a piece of hardwood (steel might be safer..those springs are tough.)., to simulate the hinge mount portion of the hood..and commenced to fiqure this distance/measurement/cam-angle/drop distance once and for all...

After many hours of swinging above described apparatus thru thousands of arc's,measuring, collecting data and reflection, I determined that who-ever designed these hinges was much ,much smarter than me..and apparently so did the guy who developed the front-tilt hood kit.

I have followed your paint/engine/truck progress, and after having done mine myself, I know YOU know, how much time and hard work goes into a paint job..so I decided not to subject all that hard work and to the "potential" scratche's from the stock hinges/hood and ensuing adjustments...the forward-tilt hood practically falls on by itself, the install was too easy, the adjustments minimal..and no paint damage.
You owe it to yourself to give this kit another look Steve..If your like me, you will get the front body work as close as you can with the stock hinges, then spring for the front-tilt kit.. it will save you a few grey hairs LoL!
