Hey guys i have an 02 superduty 5.4l extended cab in the process of lifting but need some help. So here goes. A majority of the lifts im finding say v10 diesel only whats the difference as far as the lift kit goes Im guessing weight but does it actually matter? 2nd is i want a 6" or 8" lift with new leafs on 37s my concern is driveshafts what should i be preparing for. any insight and if im in the wrong section point me in the right direction, new to the site, still learning
Welcome,
Most lifts are designed around the diesels but work fine on gassers. Expect to get more than the advertised lift on your 5.4.
I got an extra inch on my Icon lift and have seen some get more with other brands.
If you go 8 or more you'll have to get the front driveshaft lengthened and 6 or more you'll need longer brake lines.
Need anymore info feel free to pm me.
Thanks for the info. im guessing end result ill have to change the factory 2" blocks in the rear so it dont "sag"?
That'll depend on the brand of lift you choose. Some use your factory block and you stack theirs to raise up the rear others use a single replacement like Icon.
When I ordered my 4in lift from Icon I substituted the 4 inch block for their 5 inch and the rear sits 1/2 inch higher than the front. But that was after talking to the guys at Icon. If I'd have left the 4 inch block the truck would have sagged.
This is my F-250 with a 6 1/2" Pro Comp all spring lift, I went with a 4" rear factory block so I didn't have to stack them. It is a V-10 but the front spring packs had a spacer at the bottom to remove with a 5.4. Besides the front usually sags more than the rear anyway.
