only certain ecu's are programable by a dyno shop for instance. nothing ford themselves can do in house or would even try.
your KOEO scan should have come back with at least a 111 for system pass.
question did that mechanic at the tire shop adjust the throttle position screw on the TB? it would be very evident if he did because this screw has paint on it to show if its been tampered with.
also how did you pull codes? paperclip method or with an actual scanner? was the engine up to proper temp before you pulled codes.
if the o2 sensor thinks the motor is running rich thefore leaning out the mix this will cause a high idle. vacum leaks will also cause a high idle. double check the vacum lines that where messed with like the MAP etc.. and dont go back to that shop ever again. they are lame
These computers are not reporgrammable and that's a far reaching conclusion to make based on the info we have. I suggest you start by pulling the codes to see if anything is flagged, if not good but if something is then fix whatever you need to fix to clear that problem and you may just fix the high idle problem too. Incidentally you said the TPS measurements are good.. what were the measurements? When the EGR was replaced were the vacuum lines reattached correctly? If you didn't do this work yourself you're going to have to verify everything, because this vintage truck is a complete UFO to most shop mechanics these days.. unless they come from a background working on them they will have no knowledge, training, documentation, or diagnostic tools to help them fix your problem.
I think what he is saying here is that a stock program can't be re-flashed by a dealer. Our cpu's can be tuned/programmed with after market tools....that have to stay connected to the cpu.....BUT you never EVER want to try and tune around a mechanical issue.
BTW no TC with a manual tranny....so he doesn't have to worry about stall.
I would lean towards a vaccum leak, whether it be from hoses, intake, manifold. Also, double check to make sure tb isn't sticking and also check your tps voltage again to make sure it is below .99. An exhaust leak could be an issue as Kem said as a lean hego will call for more fuel, raising idle.
ok i have replaced the upper intake gasket, the TB gasket, even the IAC gasket. I have checked and checked for vacuum leaks as this is what i would suspect it to be. Nothin no leaks no unattached vac lines no bad vac lines. I'm out of ideas. going to recheck TPS Voltages for like the fifth time as suggested, incase im being dumb, and i suppose try a new O2 sensor. I just hate throwing parts at things on a prayer.

Used scanner, it was warmed up and passed engine off and code 41 engine running.
well i pulled it from a truck at the junk yard so I suspect fine I was getting a code directly pointing to the MAP and the truck was running terrible, put the used one from the JY on and no more code and smooth running.
tsarge here is the update on my truck...i unplugged the IAC and drove the truck that was not the best idea it just ate the gas. I then plugged it back in and drove it. it was fine to start with then the idle went back up again about 2000. kept driving then the check engine light started to flash and the truck started running like new until the check engine light went off then ran like crap with high idle. so now the check engine light starts flashing whenever it feels like it. Im wondering if my computer is taking a dump. So im going to try aanother computer that I have it is a 87 model computer out of a f150 and I know it is good. I will report back
sweet let me know how that turns out. Ive thought about that but with my situation it just seems weird that i didnt have this idle problem until after I fixed the other things so it would be mere coincidence that the computer went out on me at the same time.
Auto zone has the computer for $129 plus $90 core. I cant understand how my problem developed the truck ran fine until I gave it a tune up. I also have noticed that at running temp when its doing the high idle I can shut it off for 30 seconds then start it up and it idles fine until i drive a couple miles then it starts high idle again.
everyone keeps saying vacuum leak and there is no vacuum leaks I have checked and rechecked every thing vacuum with a vacuum gauge/pump and did the old spray start fluid around intake while running and no vacuum leaks so that only leaves a few sensors and the computer or broken wire. I even redid all the ground wires with new fasteners to make sure it was good.
well another update. changed computers and no change still high idle. so I unplugged the TPS while truck was running and it idled down and ran perfect! Plugged it in and went back up. Tried another TPS which is supposed to good and soon as I plug it in it goes back up. Wondering if there is a broken wire going to the TPS. It seems while TPS is unplugged I can mess with the connector wires it makes it go up and down. Im confused. I guess I will tear the upper intake off and investigate. update on that soon to come
I've been out of town for a bit. Just wondering if you've found anything new on our mutual problem. I haven't one thing is that my belt tensioner pulley broke yesterday and i just got done replacing it. Im quite sure it is unrelated, but im going to warm up the engine and see how she idles anyway.
