This is my second set of batterys. I popped the hood and knoticed that they were begining to swell. Any idea why? Ive never heard of anything bad by optima so I have to assume something is going on with the truck? Whats the next best thing?
What Clux said. An unnecessary expense, IMO.
Motorcraft batteries are excellent.
Personally I use Interstate, just as good IMO.
.
Also if you are getting repeated swelling of your batteries you might have an overcharging alternator.
I use the Max Start lead antimony batteries from Wally world because they give you a no nonsense 6 year warranty, they are all over the place including Mexico, they always have a fresh supply on hand, you can voltage match the batteries right there in the store, and the price is around $75.

BTW, The Optimas are not rated with enough CCA's (850CCA) to start our trucks.

I have Motorcraft on mine and they are great, but if you want a sealed battery like the Optima, go for the Sears DieHard Platinum line. They have a much better warranty than Optima.
Yes as mentioned above swelling is sometimes overcharging. Have seen it on an automotive battery used for starting a forklift and in sealed batteries in emergency lights..
I bought a set 2 years ago for my 07 when thry went bad I tried to warranty them! The original seller is out of business and Optima would do NOTHING to help me, my 72 month $175.00 a piece of crap batteries lasted just over 1 year! And now they are very expensive door stops, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Don't know about these Optima Batteries except they are way over priced. I just use Walmart batteries they have served me well and they have a 3 year replacement and 1 year prorated warranty and best of all Walmart is every ware.
I had an Exide Orbital (AGM) in one of my cars and it lasted 7-8 years before it started getting weak.... Kragen did not carry them any longer so I tried a red top... got it home and it was not charged well so I put it on a charger...It would not carry a charge at all... so back to the store to return it..Last time I will buy one of those... went to WW and got me a regular battery... works fine....
I had my red top warranties about one year ago. They were almost 3 years old when they crapped out. I think I have a draw on my system, but havn't had time to track it down. If I was buying a lead acid battery it would definitely be a Interstate...I've had great luck with them.
