Thoughts on doing a "Trans flush"...

Mark, Will your tranny flush system work on the transmission for the 96 ranger 4.0, using the clear tube on the cooling line back to the transmission. (See step 4) Is the return line placement the same as the one you explained? I believe I have a 4R55E but I am not sure. Where can I check to verify which tranny I have?

I did my first fluid exchange at 150k and my 2nd 310k and I am still on my original tranny at 340k and I have a real heavy foot. I say do it!

Yes, it will work. I'm not familiar with the cooler line routing on that transmission. It is a 4R55E.

The dealer told me the flush schedule for the 4r100 is every 30k, and trans filters are every 60k. I had my 198k truck flushed when I bought it because that was the only service I couldn't find in the records that came with it.

also, after replacing 4 trans in my old 97 ram 1500 I took it to get flushed 15k after the last rebuild, the trans shoo wasn't going to do it because the truck had over 75k on it. Once I told him it was a 15k trans he did it. Gave the same reason as mentioned above, most that come in for flushes are already having prpblems a flush wont fix.
