VIN question 2
Went to look at my VIN tag on door, no tag, on either tag. Where else would this information be on a 61 ? With no tag I can't check my rear axle code. Is there a code stamped into the rear axle housing by chance ?

if you are lucky, real lucky,the rearend will still have it's tag bolted to it. There are two lines of numbers on it. Look at the left of the bottom line. There will be 3 numbers, i.e. 3 70 for a 3.70 gear. If there is a L between the first and second number, congratulations, you have a "posi".

Thanks, I'll crawl under and look around. Rarely has anything I've owned had the tag. If I ever need the VIN for legal purposes, is it stamped on the frame, or radiator support, or someplace ?

Check on top of the passenger framerail between the front crossmember and the bellhousing crossmember. You may need some degreaser and a bit of sandpaper. If you still cannot find it, keep looking up under the cab on the same side. You will need a mirror to see it.
