Im just starting to work on my truck and the first thing im doing is rims. I want 22 inchs with 37 inch tires and i was wondering if a 6 inch lift is all i will need to fit the tires
People on here will know better but I have a six inch lift on my 2000 v10 and I rub the flair just slightly when I turn and hit a bump ( driveway entrance) with 35x12.5-18....
The lift was on my truck when I got it, I think my issue is the flair s, I could only have a five inch lift, any placed to measure to determine this? I'd love to get to a 37 or even bigger
As I recall, you'll need 6'' lift or more for 37's, The shop where you buy the lift kit will be able to recommend a tire size. Anything over 6'' will need a longer driveshaft(s) if you offroad and longer brakelines for safety. Do a little searching here and you'll find plenty of info. Don't forget the axle gear ratio and wheel revolutions per mile. That V10 will start feeling like a V7/8ths with 37'' tires and 3.73 gears. 6" lift on most trucks will fit 35-36s, i think any higher needs a larger lift or u have to do modifications to wheel wells
With V codes and 4.5" hangers I have the equivalent of 6" lift. I have run 325/65-18 and now 35/12.50-18. Both fit with a inch of clearance on the front valence. 37's would fit with minor trimming.
I have the v codes, 3" mini leaf pack, and a 4 1/2" lift block with traction bars. Before that, I was running 325/50/22. Just tonight, I swapped the wheel/tires for a couple of days until I get the onto my dodge. New tires are 37/12.50/16.5. Heres a pic or two. Sorry for the big pics.
Just for reference, I recently bought the ICON 7" all spring kit, and according to their website, 37's will clear with what they call "minor trimming". I hope all that means is that I need to trim/remove the front lower valance. It also said "no driveline mods necessary". So I don't anticipate any new drive shaft work. It didn't come with longer brake lines, but I know better than that from previous lifts I've installed. I also have the 5.4 in mine, so I anticipate it to be a dog, but regearing will probably be in my near future.
tyz: you have the 5.4? is yours a 2wd? I thought I read all 4wd had v10. Maybe I'm crazy.
gwolf: which leveling kit will you use? You know that most of the "leveling" kits are just a front lift, right? My ex is level the way it is, I think it would look silly 3" taller in the front, and the last thing these trucks need is more block in the back. I'd love to find a solution that would just lift my truck 2-3" with no blocks, without killing my ride, and without hurting my load capacity. still looking for now.
I have a leveling kit on the front of mine, removed the factory block and replaced it with a four inch block. It's rollin on 305/55R20's and it will fit thru my 7 foot garage door.
