What package (i.e. Lariat)? USAA uses zag.com car buying service to get their quotes. The prices they come up with tend to be the lowest I've seen online. Just my $.02.
- 2011 F-250 XLT 4x4, with 6.7, XLT premium, XLT appearance and 4.30 gears...it's $46,103.
go to edmunds.com and enter the options to get your invoice price. I would not pay more than $500 UNDER invoice especially on a 2 truck deal. you do have to add in about $650 to what edmunds comes up with for fords advertising. so I would offer what edmunds says as invoice price and pay no more.
do your negotiations over the phone, don't let a salesman pick you apart in the showroom, they have the advantage there, you have it on the phone. there is no reason the deal can't be done over the phone and you just show up and sign the papers.
I don't like doing 0% deals for a couple reasons. with 0% you don't get to use the cash incentives which mean you pay more for the vehicle up front, in this case about $5000 more. you pay sales tax on that extra 5 grand, thats several hundred right there. The other is unless you keep the vehicle for the whole 5 years you don't realize the savings, because had you just taken the lower price and you sell early you don't pay the interest on the time you don't have the vehicle. you never know where you will be in 3 or 4 years on your vehicle, my last dodge I wanted to sell it before I had planned to originally. what I am saying is pay the 4500-6k LESS for the vehicle up front and just do a regular finance on the rest rates for that are so low anyways I think 0% is dumb. I see lots of places offering 2.99% on car loans. even if you pay 5% its still worth it to take the incentives.
Cowboy, I'm not finding anywhere on Edmunds that performs the function you are describing. Which menu is that under?
its on there, just click the vehicle you want and hit price with options. I would provide a link but I am not sure the exact configuration of truck you want to start with, like XLT, lariet, etc, 2wd 4wd, super cab, crew cab, etc.
The sticker price is around 59,700 each, and I'll get the 0% end of the year financing.
Anyway, what is a good price to shoot for? Keep in mind I'm buying two trucks, repeat buyer. $50,000? 48,000? 52,000?
That is just about the MSRP price for my truck. I could have got it for ~47500 but took the 0% which negated one of the incentives. Paid right around ~49500 on the last day of April this year.
10 grand off with incentives and if you finance also....that was the deal 2 weeks ago.....go there around the last day of the month to get the best deal
Just shy of 10 grand off here as well 2 and a half weeks ago...that's with incentives....basically get for dealer invoice.....minus incentives and you've done good.
Whiteywhip -- you suggested to go the last day of the month... would that make a difference since I am having them locate the vehicles? Basically, they'll find the trucks I want and bring them to our town. So I'm not sure if the last day of the month would make a difference since I"m not buying off the lot?
...Or is there a better way to go about this than to have the dealer locate for me? I'm in MO and have looked in about a 4hr radius and haven't found anything close to what I want.

since they are locating it for you and you havent found one i a 4 hr radius then you arent going to get a big deal.......see what they are going to take off and go from there

I'll second that but from the perspective that a second dealer will be in the loop. There is always some horse trading going on between independent dealers. And unfortunately, it isn't in your favor.
Also, from Cummin's comment above. Dealer cost is around $1,300 to $1,400 under invoice (depending on configuration). I know this because a really desperate dealer showed me his numbers. I bought at a time when sales were soft and was able to negotiate a split of the dealer cost FOR AN ORDERED TRUCK.
And as others pointed out, anytime there is special financing, trade-ins, etc. involved -- you got to be careful of the numbers. I always order, find my own financing if I need it and keep a trade-in out of the equation.
