Not sure on that one, but iirc 4x4 sohc motors have a balance shaft in the lower crankcase or off to the side, so there might be a difference there.

man that balance shaft thing is...well i think its a bad design. does anyone know the reason behind it. its only on the 4x4 correct?

Balance shaft is there to smooth out the not-as-smooth-as-an-in-line V6.
