Air Conditioning Issues

Before I start throwing money at the issue I'd like to see if anyone has any ideas as to what might be going on or going bad with my A/C.

The A/C works but it randomly stops working. I can be sitting on the side of the road for 30 mins and it works fine then go to get on the highway or just do normal driving and it shuts off. By off I mean the compressor is no longer ingaged anymore. Odd thing is if I turn the air off from inside the cab and wait 5 to 10 mins and turn it back on again, it'll work for maybe 20 mins or so and the same thing happens.

Now,I can also start off driving on the highway or surface streets and the same thing can happen randomly. If I go through the same process of turning off, waiting and turning it back on again it'll start working.

There is coolent in the A/C system, it isn't low either or high, it's just fine.

The truck is a 99 F550 with the 7.3 diesel.
