pretty much everything john deere uses as far as hardware is grade 8 or above.... there are quite a few large bolts that hold the trans to the engine.... you need to keep in mind these tractors are designed to pull just as you stated getting smacked by a train doing 60 mph from the side is going to cross load all those bolts.... they are designed to be pulled on not cross loaded in this case.

The bolts are fine, it looks like it actually split the trans in 2. just helped a buddy rebuild an older model of the same ish tractor, . Big loss for them.

Looks like a 4760 or 4960, and a powershift yet, very expensive tractor.

Sure is ugly .i sure hate for it to happen to my custom tractor.i drive a lot of miles during fall and spring
